about the Honors College

A college education at its best is an exciting collaboration between professor and student. The opportunities to study with a preeminent faculty whose work is well known and respected among their peers, select from an array of innovative programs, and to work with students as bright and motivated as they are – these are the factors that will drive students to choose the Honors College.

The Honors College is dedicated to providing talented students with a dynamic learning community where they can develop their intellectual potential and career interests. In addition to receiving exciting and unique educational experiences, students can participate with fellow Honors College students in social, cultural, and intellectual events on the campus and in historic Charleston, SC.

The Honors College challenges intellectually talented students to make the most of the opportunities available to them and to become actively involved in their own education. As a recent graduate said, “The Honors College gives me the opportunity to explore ideas in greater depth, to work with the best faculty, to belong to a group which shares a common bond, and to learn through discussion rather than lecture.” In Honors classes, students take responsibility for their own learning through class discussions, interaction among students and between students and professors, and independent research.
